“Celebrating the Social Studies: A Conversation with Regent Anthony Bottar”
Social studies teachers across Central New York have adapted and excelled this year despite many anxieties and hardships in our schools. We will end our year together by welcoming Syracuse attorney Anthony Bottar to our conversation about the significance of social studies education and its future in New York State. Regent Bottar was recently re-elected as the Judicial District V Regent on the 17-member Board of Regents. Regent Bottar has been a passionate advocate for education in our community for many years and is himself a former social studies educator. Together we will explore new ideas about the social studies’ role in New York State curriculum and we will consider how practitioners and policy makers can collaborate to keep New York’s education system innovative and strong. We will also highlight and celebrate the many wondrous things that happened in social studies classrooms all over Central New York this year.
